This post is really just an excuse to show you all the Christmas goodness in New York that we came across...
Fifth Avenue
The home of Miracle on 34th Street.
Macy's is a Christmas wonderland, just imagine that scene in Elf when Buddy has created a Christmas explosion in the store. Every tree in Macy's had a different theme from traditional, Nordic, toys, nautical and candy. There was even a wine lovers tree, who'd have thought it!!!
One could believe that Caroline planned her outfit to coordinate with guy!
Macy's have these gorgeous Art Deco, wooden escalators still in operation on several floors. They make a thoroughly satisfying clacking noise as you travel upwards!
We normally visit New York earlier in the year so we were determined to see some big department store windows. One of the best was
Lord and Taylor. The windows were super elaborate and had a lot of stunning features including lots of movement and little surprises. Sorry about all the glare on the photos but you get the picture!
One of the top, store windows on my list was
Saks Fifth Avenue. It's such an iconic store and several of our most beautiful dresses from the 1940's, 50's and 60's have hailed from Sak's. Unfortunately they were keeping their displays under wraps until after Thanksgiving,,,ah boo!
Since we returned,
Fashionista.com shared a post with all the New York holiday windows. Pop over to have a look, you'll see some stunning works of art in there.
This looked awesome but we just didn't have the time to go...next time!
A trip to New York is not complete without visiting
Anthropologie. It's a feast for the eyes and a great place to catch a nap after a hard days travelling (you can't really sleep there, get off that bed Caroline!!!)
New Yorkness...
Phew...we're finished showing you the highlights of our trip. So what about all the new fabulous stock we sourced? Well we're still photographing and sorting it out but stay tuned and the next few post you'll see will be full of vintage delights!
