We are absolutely thrilled beyond belief that our gorgeous, vintage photoshoot, was featured in Life magazine.

Vintage Family Photos and Similar Vintage Dresses in Dirty Fabulous

We recently came across lots of old pictures when we were clearing out our family home. Some of them we'd seen over the years, but there were others where we didn't recognise the people pictured.

Being obsessed with all things vintage we did of course check out their vintage duds and several outfits were crazily similar to some of the pieces we currently have in Dirty Fabulous. We just had to share our findings with you!
It's safe to say the photos highlight just how important and widespread fashion trends were throughout the various decades.

Our Nanny's (Granny) sister, Aunty Lili when she married Bud Herbert in America in the 1950's

Her dress was very typical of the early 50's with its little collar, sleeves and full lace skirt.

We've had several similar American vintage wedding dresses pass through our doors but the one we have in stock below is uncannily similar!

This dashing couple is Gertie and John on their wedding day. John was our Nanny's brother. When I saw this photo our own dress instantly sprung to mind. The likeness is remarkable. True 1950's styling! 

I love this photo from 1936 but we can't work out who's in it. It's such an evocative and romantic image from the 30's.  We love how impeccably stylish they look.

Her beautiful veiled hat reminds us of this 1940's topper hat that we have in stock.

Ours is decorated with pretty pink florals which gives it a feminine but classic look

This is our lovely aunt Kay in 1971 on her wedding day flanked by her brother and sisters (including our mum on the left). 

She just celebrated 45, happy years of marriage to our uncle Kevin this year... Hoorah! 

Her dress was a wonderful boho, full length gown with trapeze sleeves. 

 Kay made her own wedding gown and the bridesmaid dresses. She actually told me she made six of the bridal party outfits, in total. Can you imagine trying to do that today with all the pressure of planning a wedding! She's a rockstar!

Aren't the chokers amazing and so on trend now.

Our American vintage dress has many features similar to our auntie Kay's, although ours is a short and flirty one.

 

A Bouquet of Baubles!

Amanda sent in these wonderful pictures from her recent wedding and they filled us with joy!
Have you ever seen a more adorable bride? We were delighted to help Amanda pick her bridal outfit which included one of our vintage style tea length dresses with lace cropped top and short satin edged veil. We completed the look with a bespoke blue sash, vintage earrings and comb.
What did you think of Amanda's bouquet? We loved it, brought a huge smile to our faces!
Congratulations to Amanda and her new hubby.

We had a great time at the weekend at the Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair which took place over the weekend. It was super busy and we met lots of fantastic people from other bridal vendors to new customers.

Thanks to all involved!

I didn't get to take pictures of all the stands but also worth checking out are the beautiful creations from Emma Jean Jewellery  , stunning veils from Visionary Veils and delicious treats and macaroons from The Sweet Treat Company  and Macaroons by Andrea  

It was also great to catch up with the amazing ladies from One Fab Day who you might actually catch up with at the National Ploughing Championships which are currently taking place!

The Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair, Davenport Hotel Dublin, 21st-22nd of September!

Dirty Fabulous will be leaving our lovely boutique on the weekend of the 21st of September and will displaying our bridal style and glamour at the Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair in the Davenport Hotel.

We'll have lots of bridal accessories, headpieces and jewels on display and a selection of our gorgeous gowns!

This is one bridal fair not to missed as it's chok full of vintage and eclectic beauties.

Tickets are only €6 and well worth it!

See you there, we'll be back in the shop for business as normal on Wednesday 25th of September.

1930's Wedding Glamour Part 2

Wowzers!!!

These photos have a real feeling of Old School Hollywood Glamour. They were taken on La Peniche barge on the canal which is the perfect spot for any romantic dinner or event.

These Dirty Fabulous vintage dresses hail from the 1930's and 40's and are such an elegant option for a wedding.

Although dresses from this period are nearly always fully covered they still remain very saucy on as the luxurious bias cut satins and silks hug the body. Definitely not a forgiving style but absolutely magnificent on.
