Butterfly Beauty!

The gorgeous Carmen came to us with a very specific vision in mind for her bridal headpiece.
Her love of butterflies inspired her to incoorporate them into her piece. She also wanted the drama of a bird cage veil.
Working with Carmen's preferences, Caroline created a beautiful beaded comb with butterfly embellishment and a separate bird cage veil that Carmen could remove later in the day.
We just love Carmen's fun and super pretty look on her big day.
It was our pleasure to help her complete it!

Pink and Red.... The colours you're missing out on!!!

Pink and red is one of our favourite colour combinations, but it's not one people often think to try.
Now's your chance! There's no better time to give it a whirl than during a romantic week in February!

If you don't believe how chic and femine these two colours can look, then take some inspiration from some of the original vintage and modern images we've chosen for you...

Isn't this the kind of outfit you'd like to wear when wakling the dog!!!

1960's pink and red air hostess uniforms...ultra short!!!

Now, how to turn these inspirations into reality:

We love how these modern looks have a nod towards the past.

Tea length skirt, statement blouse, cape and travel case. Super chic!

The hot pink sweater and tea length skirt has created a much bolder look. It's classic with a vibey edge.

If skirts aren't your thing then how about some 1940's style tailoring?

Interior Lust...Oh how it torments me!!!

Pinterest has a lot to answer for!!!

I could happily while away many an evening drooling over the endless fabulous interior shots it provides. Like many in Dublin I rent a small space for too much money and the idea of buying is but a dream. But...everyone has to dream big and aspire to great things so when I win the lotto I'm going to decorate my Georgian/Victorian house kinda like these.
Lots of colour, kitch, high ceilings, wooden floors, velvet couches (totally practical for two small sticky fingered boys) and retro furniture....
Have you any interior lusts? I'd love to see them and know I'm not the only one!!!

Then I'd like this for my boys room!

Chez Moi:

As I mentioned, I rent the house I'm in and luckily I found one that was unfurnished over 5 years ago as I'd amassed quite a furniture collection over the years. I've picked up pieces really cheaply at auctions and of course Ikea!
It was never intentional but you'll notice there's a lot of blue and pink!!! I'm hoping to change it up and add more darker, striking colours like mustard, navy and burgundy. Think more industrial kitch less vintage girlie!

If you are renting your space then don't be disheartened, there are loads of cheap ways to add a touch of your own personality. Think of some woolen throws, cushions, lamps or vases. Pick up some unusual vintage pieces like clocks, chairs or ornaments at fairs and second hand shops.

Dust,  the Carolyn Donnelly range in Dunnes, Folkster April and The Bear and Industry are all great places to start.
These are all on wish list

If you are going to be in a space for a while then it's worth investing a little money (yes, even for rented accommodation!). It will make you happier in the long run and you can always bring what you bought with you.
Oh how I'd love a big house to fill full of vintage furniture and knick knacks...one can dream....

So this is what a Saturday is like!

Bits and Bobs of coolness

Retro Rocks!

The DJ was definitely pumping out some serious summer tunes!

Hours could be lost rummaging through Toe Jam

The Big Blue Bus...where we later indulged in some much needed pizzas for soakage!

Having always worked in retail its a rare thing for me to have a Saturday off for pure unadulterated leisure and I couldn't have asked for a better day or weather.

A group of us headed to the Toe Jam Car Boot sale which takes place out the back of the Bernard Shaw pub on South Richmond Street.

There was definitely a real festival feel about the place. We enjoyed some tasty African barbeque chicken, the hubby purchased some classic novels for cheap as chips and then we left promising to come back later for the afternoon sun and some beverages. (Turned out to be a lot of beverages actually!)

Highly, highly recommended peeps!
