Adding Unexpected Colour to a Winter Wedding

Having a winter wedding shouldn't mean that you have to stick to the same old colour palette of reds. greens, golds or grey. There's a whole spectrum of colours out there that are just begging to be worn during the winter months.

We've paired our 1950's ivory embroidered tea length wedding dress with tones of royal blue and we've added flourishes of magenta and oranges with the flowers and make-up.

The overall look feels quite modern and edgy despite being a classic, original vintage dress.

Dark rich colours in peacock shades, metallics, rich yellows and pinks, cool blues and ice whites will all work in cooler months.
Don't forget that if you are using a very dark palette like aubergine, wine or browns to add a pop of contasting vivid colour to ensure the overall look isn't too sombre. Brightening up your accessories and florals is a great way to do this!

What the heck does this button do?

(image from mattsko)

Do you find yourself asking "what the heck does this button do???" in relation to your DSLR camera?

Well then... firm friend of Dirty Fabulous, Aga of White Tea photography fame is offering a place on her "I got a camera for Christmas" course.

It's a refreshingly laid back workshop on how to get to know your DSLR camera that little bit better. Relax in the cool setting of MVP as Aga guides you around the various settings of your new camera and shows you how to get the most out of it creatively. All levels of experience are welcome, even those, like us, who only know how to turn it on, point and click.

The courses are running on Saturday 16th of May from 12.30pm to 5.30pm and Sunday 17th from 2.30pm to 7.30pm. A yummy lunch is included.

If you win you can choose which of these days you'd prefer. I'm sure you could even hang out for a post workshop beverage with your new camera savvy besties in MVP, if the mood so took you!

NB**** You must own a DSLR camera to take part in the course.

Well now isn't that uber generous! So what do I have to do to win one of these precious spaces?

Post to our Facebook page, @dirtyfabulousvintage on instagram, Twitter or use the old fashioned method and email info@dirtyfabulous.com with of an pic you're chuffed with and want the world to see. You're quite sure it was a fluke and you've no idea what buttons you pressed but the Gods of photography were smiling upon you that day and BAM!!!...a picture good enough to take home and meet the parents.

A Pop Of Splendour: Part 1

We are so unbelievably proud and happy to finally be able to share these pictures with you. If they look familiar, you may have seen them on One Fab Day last week, where they gave us a fantastic mention!
But now we can tell you all about them! The shoot was a labour of love between myself and Caroline from Dirty Fabulous and Aga from White Tea.
Caroline and I wanted to create a vintage shoot that was true to our style and the individuality that Dirty Fabulous vintage can offer. We wanted a pop of contrasting colour to be the focus of each look and this was carried through to the make-up and headpieces.

I did the hair and make-up. The make-up was a total contradiction of all those tips you've read about. I contrasted and clashed every colour imaginable: pink shadows with coral lips, yellow shadows with red lips, blues with fuchsia's, coppers and berries. I had a lot of fun with it!

Caroline created all of the turbans and headpieces specifically for this shoot but rest assured she can pretty much imagine up any headpiece you might have in mind for your wedding!

The grand location was Annesbrook, an elegant dame of a Georgian country house in Meath. The space there was amazing and colour palate totally inspiring. We would have loved to have shot some images in their wonderful, rambling gardens but it was such a sunny day that we couldn't get the light right for outside shots. Annesbrook is a really special venue that you can hire for your wedding. Go meet them, have a chat and be won over by the charm and beauty of a country house wedding and the lovely family who own it.

Now on to the photographer....Aga from White Tea Photography
Aga is a good friend of Dirty Fabulous and any time she wants to collaborate we jump at the chance as even though we might be biased we absolutely adore her work! She did Caroline's own engagement shoot which was stunning! Aga would be a wonderful addition to your wedding as she will capture the most stunning, romantic and joyful moments of your big day.

As the title suggests, there's another part to follow full of glamour and cheeky, fun so stay tuned. We hope our much loved pictures brighten up your day!
