Something Like A Wedding...The Guests

So this is my last blog post about 'The Wedding!'. That is until we get the official photographs from the amazing Shane of Aspect Photography.
As I mentioned these are images of just some of the guests that attended Caroline and Peters vintage circus themed wedding. As you can see everyone pulled out all the stops...There were a even few Dirty Fabulous dresses to behold on the day.

The guests!

A Dirty Fabulous 1950s blue and white striped prom dress worn by the lovely Aoife with her guy Barry .

The yellow satin 1950s prom dress was from Dirty Fabulous and was worn by the hula hooping lady, Lizzie!   With the clowntastic Hugh and Cera.

Our brother Tony was the Ringmaster for the day...he did a super duper job!

It's my awesome baby, handsome hubby, friend to Dirty Fabulous and reacher of high shelves: Ronan and our very own Breffni.
Featuring Dirty Fabulous website designer, artist extraordinaire & Brother Barry with the Bride

Elizabeth teamed her 1950s teal lace vintage dress & red velvet cap with red underskirt for a beautiful vintage look.

It's my wonderful family and Mumsie. My dress was an emerald green 1950s tulle and sequin number. I added some pom poms to give it a circus feel and I made my clown headpiece. Caroline made baby Rubens moustache dummy!

Rachel and Sean

Our Circusey brothers and nephew Noah

Top hats were de rigueur! My stunning sisters in-law Natalie and Grace, and moi!

A mix of Circus and Carnival folk!

Something Like A Wedding....The Details!

Now... Where to start?
There was so much going on at Caroline and Peters wedding last Sunday that it will be hard to fit it all into this post, but I'll do my best.
To say it was a visual and audio extravaganza is an understatement!

The wedding party was kicked of by the dulcet tones on the Bugle Babes who definitely set the mood with their delectably smooth 1940's tunes.

The venue was the Dublin Food Co-Op building in New Market, Dublin 8. Caroline and Peter knew they didn't want a traditional venue so they convinced the super friendly and helpful Co-op people to indulge them and let them take over for a day. The Dublin Flea Market is held here among other things and for those of you unfamiliar with it, it's huge! Preparing the venue was more like a staging a theatrical production.

Both Caroline and our Mumsie set out making circus themed table centres. These were absolutely gorgeous and super kitch. In total they made about 80 and the guests got to bring them home, woohoo!

The stunning flowers were courtesy of The Informal Florist who arranged a eclectic mix within silver tea pots, milk urns and glass jars through out the hall.

Each place setting had a little gold animal which was chosen to reflect the guest... I was a giraffe....not sure what that says about me, but I think it was good!

Colourful Paper lanterns and vintage playing cards hung over the tables and marked the table numbers.

The uber talented and lovely friend to Dirty Fabulous, Cathy Davey sung a duet with the equally amazing Neill Hannon for a romantic pre ceremony first dance for Caroline and Peter. There wasn't a dry eye in the house!

Whilst Caroline was changing into her wedding outfit Peter had designed and arranged a backdrop change to reflect Johnson's Court in Dublin, the scene of their first meeting after years of being apart since being childhood friends...oh the romance!
The ceremony was a beautiful, moving and personal experience which was performed by Tom Colton

Everyone was blown away when the ceremony ended the Dublin All Stars came marching in to 'Louie Louie'
With a mix the included Katie Perry's Fireworks and Sweet Caroline they had the crowd bouncing like lunatics!

The show stopping cake was made by our cousin Shelly McCaughey of Happy Wrappers and the cake topper was made by our talented Mumsie! It included elephants, a vintage sewing machine and a carousel dress among other things!

The delicious meal was provided by neighbours of Dirty Fabulous, Cornucopia and included tasty morsels such as Beetroot, blue cheese and brazil nut cheese cake and Ragout of chickpea, roast pepper, garlic and white wine. As this was not your average wedding the vegetarian buffet ended with a 'Cheese Course' which involved the children invited to the wedding being dressed in mice costumes and handing out song lyrics for 'cheesy' love songs...hilarious is too small an adjective to describe the audience participation in the cheese course!!!

One of the quirky features of the wedding included a tattoo parlour where guests could adorn themselves with temporary tattoos... these fun details kept everyone entertained.

The entrance to the main hall was decorated by a wall of Vintage Penguin book cover postcards that the bride and groom had sent out to guests to use as their RSVP.

Finally, there was a fabulous vintage crescent moon created by our uncle Tony and painted by our brother Barry which was the backdrop of many an awesome photo.

We then bopped the night away to the funkiest, danciest tunes on a carefully selected playlist that Caroline had spent endless hours on...

This was the most imaginative, personal and memorable wedding I've been to. Everyone lent a hand to help the happy couple out and I know they are eternally grateful to everyone.
They themselves put on one hell of a party!

Congratulations you guys, hope you're enjoying the Honeymoon

Something Like a Wedding...The Dress

It's hard to believe it's all over, but Caroline married her beloved Peter on Sunday in a fantastical sensory feast of a wedding!
The Bride and Groom greeted their guests in one set of outfits and then snuck off and changed into their perfect 'getting married' get-up!

Vintage all the way!
Caroline wore a 1950s silver blue sequin and tulle sweetheart prom dress whilst Peter wore a vintage check blazer, yellow trousers sourced in New York and bow tie that Caroline had made for him.
Caroline also had fabulous vintage tattoo tights that you'll see more of in further posts!
Caroline and our niece gorgeous Tillie
Caroline made her vintage showgirl style crown using star, swallow, elephant and sun rhinestone brooches. She also had a delicate 1930s rhinestone pendant.

 I love this photo!
Peter looked dashing a vintage Aviator suit black and white spectators and Caroline changed in to a demure, 1940s white draped rayon wedding gown.
Caroline of course made a second headpiece to enhance her 1940s gown, it was a beautiful feather and crystal number adorned with white doves!

Hazahhh...and then they were married!

There was just so much going on at this wedding that I need to break the blog posts down. Later in the week I'll be showing you the stunning details that Caroline and Peter included in their vintage circus themed wedding...you won't believe the work and involvement that's coming next!!!

The Excitement Is Mounting!!!

Some stationary details that indicate a fun and original 'Big Day Out!'

My headpiece is a work in progress!

I've added pom-poms to give my vintage dress a more circus feel!

I can not wait to wear my baby-blue underskirt and uber sparkly silver heels!

Caroline, the other half of Dirty Fabulous is getting hitched in under 48 hours... Where did that time go?
It's all systems go as Caroline and Peter put the finishing touches to their wedding which takes inspiration from vintage circuses and carnivals, family are flying in and outrageous outfits are being carefully thrown together!

We know Caroline and Peter have a fun-filled event planned and the party will go on until the wee hours.

A huge congratulations in advance to two talented, creative and ridiculously suited lovebirds!
Caroline will be taking the month of August off so we'll see her back in Dirty Fabulous on her return.
We'll miss you!!!

Myself and Breffni will of course be posting some images of all the crazy romance next week so stay tuned...it's going to be awesome!

Caroline's Getting Married!!!

Wuhooooooo!
The time has come to wish our sweet Miss Caroline farewell for the month of August. A long over-due break for our Dirty Fabulous Lady... aaaaaaaaaand there's the tiny detail of the most awesome wedding in the history of time, taking place this very Sunday!Eeeeek!
That's right ladies, our very own Caroline will be tying the knot with Peter this weekend in what can only be described as the most fantastical, colourful, sparkley extravaganza.
The theme for the wedding is "Vintage Circus" and all the guests are being urged to go all out with their costumes, you'd expect no less with Caroline as the not-so-blushing bride to be!

In true Breffni style, I'm still pulling my look together but I do know there will be an Edwardian collar and cuffs, ostrich feather lashes (*I may never take them off, they're awesome!) and I'm currently hunting down a cane...preferably with some kind of head on it... Fingers crossed it all comes together in time!
Stay tuned for a look at Kathy's ensemble.

I've included some images of the awesome invites for this
one-day-only spectacular.
Each guest has a golden ticket, and the RSVP's were post cards of old book covers. They apparently were chosen with the guest in mind. Mine was Black Mischief...I've no idea what those two crazy kids were implying?!

I want to wish Caroline and Peter all the luck and love in the world.
I can't wait to go wild with you guys on Sunday.
Yippeeeee!!!

Luxurious Ladies Who Lunch

Last week I posted two pictures from this decant
'Let Them Eat Cake' shoot, styled by Cat Lawlor from
 The Cake Cuppery.
We love how glamorous the girls look in our original 50s dresses and bespoke headpieces.
The palatial surroundings of Marlfield House seem to capture this Marie Antoinette themed shoot to perfection.
With cakes almost too good looking to eat, ethereal make up and luscious locks, this is a  tea party we here at Dirty Fabulous would like to be at.

Have a look below at all of the people involved in bringing this 18th Century delight to life.
