Mrs Courtney's Tea Rooms Killarney

Oooh how do you choose with so many delicious treats!!!

Prettiness everywhere!

I wonder if they would let me move in?

Chandeliers everywhere...my kind of place!

As it was myself and the hubby's 5 year wedding anniversary (5 years? how did that happen!) we took a little trip to Kerry for the weekend and following some good advise from a lovely friend, we found ourselves having lunch in Mrs Courtney's Tearooms in Killarney.

The tearooms are super cute, adorable even! Just my cup of tea if you'll excuse the pun...

We had a delicious lunch, sampling the Ceylon tea and then deliberating over which yummy sweet treat to linger over (a very moist coffee cake was the answer).

Wonderful staff, wonderful food and beautiful decor...what's not to love!

Prudence Beauty Awards 2010

Prudence Beauty Awards hosted by Ireland AM presenter Sinead Desmond

Super view from the very NYC Gibson Hotel

The Gibson Hotel restaurant

Being Dirty Fabulous in a Car Park!!!

Oh I've been a bit lax on the blog updates but I have a few for you today! We're still flat out sorting our new boutique, but it's definitely worth the effort, it looks amazing and will be opening very soon!
We did manage to squeeze in a visit to the new Gibson Hotel in the Point Village last week to attend the Prudence Beauty Awards 2010.

It was a fun event which highlighted the key, must have, prudent beauty products. Good knowledge to have when us ladies are bombarded with countless products on the market... the Beauty awards have done the leg work for you. Just pick up your copy of Prudence available today for the full low down! With winning ranges from Penny's and Aldi we can afford to keep our make-up bag fully stocked!

Oh and FYI the Gibson Hotel is excellent for a cocktail on their huge terrace over looking the city and soaking up the last of the summer rays. It's very like the Hudson hotel in New York before it became so last season!!!

More August Bank Holiday Ideas!

The Crafty Market in Shebeen Chic on Georges St, Sunday 1st August.

I love this market, I just don't get to it enough!!! But this weekend I'll be in there like swimwear! The Crafty Market features many amazing independent artists, crafty people and fellow vintage enthusiasts.
One such artiste is our very own brother Barry Quinn, luckily for me and my walls I'm a huge fan and it's great to have access to such creativity close hand.

Check out his awesomeness here:

A champion for the environment, many of Barry's pieces are completed on recycled materials.

Loving the creatures!

If only they all could be mine...

In order to aid in the recovery of the horrific BP Gulf oil spill, each week Barry is offering one painting a week to buy and the total profits will go towards this much needed cause. The guide price is €25 per piece but you decide how much you want to contribute. Above is this weeks titled work entitled "Another Kind of Living"

Airfield Vintage and Craft Market

Get down to Airfield Farm in Dundrum on Saturday 31st to indulge in a little vintage and craftyness...This market is on the last Saturday of every month so if you're not in Dublin this weekend, have no fear, it's a regular.

Every month the market also airs an iconic film and this month features the original society princess, Grace Kelly.

1920's Silent Movies in Fitzwilliam Square this Monday

If you're looking for something interesting to do this Bank Holiday weekend I might have a few ideas...

First up, an absolutely brilliant idea:
Go and watch a 1920's silent Movie in Fitzwilliam square and soak up the atmosphere evoked by Dublin collective 3epkano. It's only €5 in and the funds go towards the upkeep of the square.
Check it out:

Silent Glamour

Gloria Swanson, Hollywood silent movie star who went on to make one of my favourite movies: Sunset Boulevard

One of the biggest 20's silent movie stars Mary Louise Brooks. This image is so contemporary it could have been taken last week!

Dressed in Vintage!

What to wear to a family wedding???

Vintage of course!!!

Just a quick pickie of yours truly and Caroline at our lovely cousins recent wedding.
We're both huge fans of the 1950's but we prefer completely different styles.

I am a lover of the prom dress, whilst Caroline roots for the wiggle dress.
Both of our outfits are topped of with headpieces from Kilkenny based milliner Rebekah Patterson

So for your next big event choose a time in history that speaks to you and just go with it... Though don't forget to add some modern accessories to keep it current or future generations will be left guessing as to what decade your photos hail from!!!
