Photography by David Ryan Photography

Vintage prettiness galore here! Niamh chose a  Dirty Fabulous 1950's lace tea length wedding dress for her big day and to add some extra glamour she teamed it with an ivory beaded comb, bird cage veil and Art Deco style pearl bracelet.
Oooh it's just so girlie and romantic!!!
Congratulations Niamh.

Bird Cage Veil perfection for a flame haired Retro Bride!

Oooh how gorgeous are these images from Cheryl's wedding in The Millhouse .
They were taken by Tim from This Modern Love and I think they capture what must have been a fabulous day beautifully!
Cheryl wore one of our birdcage veils to compliment her retro look.
It's absolute perfection with her red hair and victory rolls.
Love it!

Dirty Fabulous Headpiece winner - One Fab Day competition

Back in January we had a competition on One Fab Day to win a fabulous bespoke headpiece -

The winner was the gorgeous Louise Benson........
Louise's Grandmother made her wedding dress for her using this lace and Louise asked me to make a headpiece that incorporated the lace.

Louise showed me photographs of her planned hairstyle and the position she would like to wear her bespoke Dirty Fabulous headpiece.
So off I set to work!

And this is the result!

Louise looked absolutely stunning on her big day and her dress is a credit to her grandmother.

Such a cute photo!

Big congratulations to Louise and her new hubby from us in Dirty Fabulous!

How to wear vintage hats!

Sometimes vintage hats can be hard to figure out.
Different decades wore their hats at different angles so here is a little guide that should help.
We find that wearing your vintage hat to the side at at jaunty angle often looks best. Vintage floral and satin bands look fab when worn across the back of the head.

Dirty Fabulous has a multitude of vintage hats and headpieces in stock from the 1920's to to the 1960's.
Try some out, you know your head is begging to be dressed up too!

Give us a call and we'll book you in

Pretty red butterflies for a pretty cool bride!

This gorgeous bride is Lia!
She wore our satin scoop neck prom with matching underskirt and I made her a bespoke headpiece incorporating a fabulous red silk butterfly to match her shoes.

We love how Lia stayed true to her personal style for her wedding day and we were delighted to have been able to help out!

Creative Quarter Fashion Show in Powerscourt

Phew! What a week that was!!!
I hope you caught as much fashioney goodness as we did.
Our highlight was the Creative Quarter Fashion Show in the glorious surroundings of Powerscourt Townhouse on Friday 5th of September.

Powerscourt is without doubt one of my favourite places in Dublin City. It has super boutiques and tasty eateries galore like Pygmalion and The Pepper Pot.
You can often find myself and Caroline having a business meeting in Pygmalion as it has plenty of space for my two boys and our double buggy. The food is shockingly tasty and the staff our really friendly and helpful. I'm there so often I fear they wonder have I no home to go to!

Now, back to the show...

For the event I wore an early 1960's ivory silk a-line dress with a large rhinestone collar.

Caroline's outfit was influenced by pirate chic and she topped it off with a 1950's pink floral headpiece.

This show featured one of our own looks: No 20 in the running order.

Dirty Fabulous is smack bang in the middle of the Creative Quarter  as we're located on Wicklow Street.
If you aren't familiar with the area then you simply must plan a visit. All of the best eateries, bars & boutiques can be found with in this vibey district! We really wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Clyde Carroll, the Marketing and Communications Director for Dublin Town introduced the show by telling us how awesome Dublin is and he ain't half wrong...the city is positively buzzing at the minute!

Next up was the delicious Angela Scanlon to lead us through the looks featured in the show.

I've added a couple of our favs that I managed to get pics of but trust me there were a lot more!

How adorable is this 1950's style floral dress from Retro

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I am a HUGE fan of Om Diva, I can't step foot in the place without picking up a couple of pieces, my only saving grace is that I often have my boys in tow in their pram which makes leisurely browsing around the many floors near impossible! My bank account is thankful though!
This colourful, quirky yet elegant look was pure Om Diva. I urge you to visit.

And then there was Dirty Fabulous which arrived out to many cheers and myself and Caroline grinning ear to ear!
We had chosen an original 1950's fully beaded champagne gown with devore appliques that was covered in rhinestone crystals. The sparkle down the catwalk was splendid.
For a high fashion twist we added a vintage fur hat and 3/4 length gloves.
I didn't get the best photo of it but luckily some others did and there are a few more below.

After the show it was on to the shmoozing!
The bold and the beautiful of the fashion world of Dublin were in attendance.
We caught up with a lot of people we know and have the pleasure of working with including Irene O'Brien

Had a catch up with Dirty Fabulous fav Angela Scanlon

And joked with the gorgeous Ella from Siopaella about how we must be the smallest people at the show and how wonderful it is to be diminutive in stature...who needs to reach up to high shelves anyway!

The dazzling ladies from Style Gamblers managed to get some great shots of our dress as it sashayed down the catwalk. Head on over to their Facebook page for more.

So that's it for this year. The Dublin Fashion Festival has been another resounding success. I'm sure everyone involved is happy to put their feet up and have a little rest but it won't be long before the thinking caps are on to make next years festival bigger and better than ever!
Hope you had as much fun as we had and if you did miss this year then maybe plan a visit around the festival next year, if like us and fashion is you Achilles heel then you won't be disappointed!
